Thank you for your vote and support. Because of you, Issue 46 passed overwhelmingly (71.4%) across the city and in Ward 5 (73%). We couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to permanently protect the entire former golf course as green space — while bringing a neighborhood of much needed homes for empty nesters to Solon.

Potential Expansion of Cleveland Metroparks South Chagrin Reservation
Cleveland Metroparks is pursuing the acquisition of ±149 acres of the Hawthorne Valley Country Club property that will be protected for future generations to enjoy as part of the South Chagrin Reservation and includes a portion of Hawthorn Creek, a tributary to Tinker’s Creek. Cleveland Metroparks plans to restore the property to its natural state, which includes stream restoration and reforestation, heavily focused along the stream corridor to expand the riparian buffer and open the property for public access. Cleveland Metroparks will maintain the property as a natural, scenic area that will serve as habitat for plants and wildlife. A large pond on the property will offer anglers new fishing opportunities for bluegill and largemouth bass. The property owned by Hawthorne Valley Country Club, LLC was operated as a golf course until 2018.
